Overview
An 8-day pairing of Italy's capital with its most photogenic coastline. Three nights in Rome cover the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's, with time for the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. The tour then heads south for Pompeii and four nights on the Amalfi Coast, with boat trips to Positano and Capri and a drive along the cliff road to Ravello. Central hotels, daily breakfast and first-class rail between Rome and Naples are included.

Itinerary
Arrive at Fiumicino and transfer to your hotel near the historic centre. Evening orientation walk to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, with an optional welcome dinner in Trastevere.
Guided skip-the-line tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill in the morning. Afternoon free for the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori.
Early-entry guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. Afternoon at leisure - optional climb of the basilica dome or a Castel Sant'Angelo visit.
First-class train to Naples, then a guided walk through the excavated Roman city of Pompeii before continuing to your coast hotel in Sorrento or Amalfi for a four-night stay.
A small-boat day along the coast with stops in Positano and Amalfi for lunch and swimming, passing the Li Galli islands and hidden coves.
Ferry to Capri for the chairlift to Monte Solaro, the Gardens of Augustus and time in the town, with an optional Blue Grotto visit subject to sea conditions.
Morning drive to Ravello for the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone high above the sea. Afternoon free for the beach or shopping for ceramics and limoncello.
Transfer to Naples Airport or by train to Rome for your onward flight.
